Terms & Conditions

TRIAL

Your first lesson is a free, no-obligation 30-minute trial. This trial is a great way for us to meet and ensure that my teaching style works for you. If you’d like to continue after the trial, here’s how lessons and payments work:

BOOKING & PAYMENTS

Batch Booking:

  • Lessons are booked in batches of 5.

  • You may book in larger batches (multiples of 5 such as 10, 15, etc.) if you wish.

  • All payments are made via bank transfer in pounds (£) sterling only.

Initial Email:

  • After confirming your interest and discussing a provisional weekly slot (e.g., Thursdays at 6:15 pm), you will receive an email titled “Booking Batch 1” containing 5 (or more) provisional dates.

Date Adjustments:

  • You may request changes if needed (e.g., if a student cannot attend on a given day).

  • I will attempt to reschedule within the same week.

  • If a mutually agreeable date isn’t found, the lesson—and any subsequent lessons—will be pushed forward.

Invoice Clearance:

  • Once you are happy with the provisional schedule, please confirm the dates by clearing the invoice at least 48 hours before the first lesson in the batch.

  • Failure to clear the invoice 48 hours in advance may result in your slot being released at my discretion.

Date Confirmation:

  • Payment confirms that you have read and agree to these terms, and that the dates are finalised.

  • Cancellations or rescheduling require at least 24 hours’ notice for any confirmed lesson.

Subsequent Bookings:

  • After completing Booking Batch 1, you will receive an email for Booking Batch 2, and so on.

Refund Policy:

  • All payments are non-refundable unless I cancel a lesson or your position.

  • Refunds are only issued for individual, future lessons that have been cancelled (no refunds for past lessons).

CANCELLATIONS & RESCHEDULING

24+ Hours Notice:

  • If you cancel more than 24 hours in advance, you can reschedule the lesson.

  • If a suitable alternative time cannot be found or you decide not to use the lesson credit, the lesson fee will be forfeited.

Less than 24 Hours Notice:

  • If you cancel within 24 hours of the lesson, the fee will be forfeited, and no reschedule or refund will be offered.

Exceptional Circumstances:

  • In cases such as illness or emergencies, I may, at my discretion, offer a one-time exception. Supporting evidence (e.g., a doctor’s note) is required.

Instructor Cancellation:

  • If I need to cancel a lesson, you’ll have the option to reschedule.

  • If we cannot find a suitable time, I will issue a full refund for that lesson.

Cancellation of Position:

  • I reserve the right to cancel a student’s lesson or position at any time. In such cases, any unused lesson credits will be refunded.

STOPPING LESSONS

Notice Period:

  • From 25th April 2025: If you decide to stop lessons, please provide at least 5 weeks’ notice.

  • If you choose to stop immediately, payment for the 5-week notice period will still be due.

LATENESS & ABSENCES

Policy:

  • If you’re running late, I will wait for 15 minutes.

  • If I haven’t heard from you within that time, the lesson will be cancelled, and the fee will be forfeited.

COMMUNICATION

Prefered method:

  • All official communication will be conducted via email to keep things simple and organised.

LEARNING RESOURCES

Materials:

  • You are responsible for purchasing books and other learning materials based on my recommendations.

  • These resources are key to your progress, and I cannot guarantee the value of materials purchased outside of my recommendation

  • Lesson rates may change from time to time.

  • Any changes will be communicated in advance and will only apply to new lesson bookings.

SAFETY AND RISK

  • If you attend lessons at my home (21 Avenue Road, Hampton, TW12 2BH), please be aware that you assume full responsibility for your personal safety and that of any children you bring.

Insurance:

  • I have all the relevant insurances and will take the necessary precautions during lessons.

ONLINE VS IN-PERSON LESSONS

  • If you usually take lessons online and wish to switch to in-person (or vice versa), please give at least 24 hours’ notice.

  • Note that there may be applicable charges for switching the lesson format.

ONLINE LESSON SAFEGUARDING

  • For students under 18, parents or guardians are responsible for ensuring a safe online learning environment.

  • This includes monitoring participation, ensuring secure internet access, and applying appropriate privacy settings.

  • I am not responsible for any internet security issues or technology-related problems.

AGREEMENT TO TERMS

Acceptance:

  • By making your first (and subsequent) payment(s), you confirm that you have read and agree to these terms.

Updates:

  • These terms may be updated periodically. Any changes will be notified in advance and will only apply to future bookings.

Refer-A-Friend Scheme

If you’re currently having lessons with me, you can earn a free lesson by referring a friend!

HOW IT WORKS

  • For students/parents who are currently booked in for lessons with me directly.

  • Tell your friends, neighbours, or family members about my lessons.

  • Let them know that their first lesson with me is a free, no-obligation 30-minute trial

  • Feel free to share my contact information!

  • Make sure they mention your full name when they contact me.

  • After their trial, if they book and pay for their first batch of lessons, you’ll get one free lesson at your usual lesson length.

  • The free lesson will be added to the end of your current batch.

A FEW TERMS TO KEEP IT FAIR

  • The free lesson is only available for the first referral from each family. If the referred person signs up more than one family member, one free lesson will be given to the person who referred them.

  • Due to client privacy, I won’t be able to discuss their booking details with you, but I’ll let you know once your free lesson has been confirmed.

  • If ever I have to cancel lessons or your position, you will be refunded for the lessons you paid for, but you will not be refunded for the lesson credit which was awarded to you under the Refer-A-Friend Scheme.

  • This scheme applies to referrals from March 2025 onwards.

EXAMPLE 1

Sarah is a piano student and enjoys her 45-minute lessons. She tells her friend John about my lessons, and he books a free trial. John loves the trial and signs up for a batch of 1-hour guitar lessons. Once John has confirmed by paying for his first batch, Sarah then receives a free 45-minute piano lesson!

EXAMPLE 2

Sarah refers her friend Emily, who signs up her son Tom for lessons in May 2025. Six months later, Emily signs up her other son Harry. Since only the first referral from a family qualifies, Sarah receives one free 45-minute lesson for the initial referral in May 2025 when Emily signed up Tom.
